Easter Proclamation

Christ is risen. Alleluia!! Let us rejoice and be glad. Alleluia!! The Paschal Mystery is now shining on us with all its glory during this time of Easter. This is the most important event that we celebrate. An event which has dramatically changed the course not only of the human race but of the entire cosmos.

“I am your God, who for your sake have become your son. Out of love for you… For your sake I, your God, became your son; I, the Lord, took the form of a slave… I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be held a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead. Rise up, work of my hands, you who were created in my image. Rise, let us leave this place, for you are in me and I am in you.” With these words an ancient Christian author is giving voice to the Risen Christ today. That is right; He is Risen Today, it is not as if the “message” of the resurrection is still alive, no, it is He himself who is alive, the Life-giving Spirit, the person Jesus Christ, the one who is living today to give us life.

He the Lord is the conqueror of every possible battle, He won, He is victorious. Let’s not be like Mary of Magdala who is not able to see beyond the empty tomb, perhaps today our eyes and minds are like hers, only looking at the shadows in our life, without realizing that He shines just beside us, He is whispering our names to wake us up; “Mary” only then she realises and her entire perspective changes dramatically from mourning into dancing. Echoing one of the psalms read at the Easter Vigil: For me you have changed my mourning into dancing: O Lord my God, I will thank you for ever. (Ps 30:11)

Let us remember that on the Easter Candle a very important engraving is the current year; in this case, 2021. That speaks of the reality that He is risen TODAY with all its circumstance that we all know enough about. The Light of that candle which is the Light and Power of the resurrection is affecting us today with all its radiance, to transform all our wounds into glorious ones. Awake then! Awake! “Rise up, work of my hands, you who were created in my image. Rise, let us leave this place, for you are in me and I am in you. together we form only one person and we cannot be separated.”
