The Weave Newsletter #006

THE WEAVE OF MANQUEHUE PRAYER NEWSLETTER

#006 TUESDAY 4th MAY 2021

The Weave of Manquehue Prayer is a network of friends that seek to help one another to pray, to cultivate spiritual friendship and to share with many the Good News of the Risen Christ. The Weave draws from the charism of the Manquehue Movement to enrich initiatives of evangelisation and service.

EASTER PROCLAMATION

Christ is risen. Alleluia!! Let us rejoice and be glad. Alleluia!! The Paschal Mystery is now shining on us with all its glory during this time of Easter. This is the most important event that we celebrate. An event which has dramatically changed the course not only of the human race but of the entire cosmos.

Let us remember that on the Easter Candle a very important engraving is the current year; in this case, 2021. That speaks of the reality that He is risen TODAY with all its circumstance that we all know enough about. The Light of that candle which is the Light and Power of the resurrection is affecting us today with all its radiance, to transform all our wounds into glorious ones. Awake then! Awake! “Rise up, work of my hands, you who were created in my image. Rise, let us leave this place, for you are in me and I am in you. together we form only one person and we cannot be separated.”

PAST EVENTS

Weave Easter Celebrations

Throughout Holy Week and the Easter Octave, the Weave shared times of prayer both online with a Palm Sunday General Vespers and Liturgy of the Hours throughout Holy Week on Discord, and an Easter Celebration of the Word on Zoom, and offline, by following a retreat booklet for the Triduum. Maria from Norwich, shares what being able to celebrate the Paschal Mystery in this way meant for her;

“Before beginning the Lectio, the retreat booklet recommended spending a few minutes in silence. In this silence, my understanding grew.

I began to consider how on Holy Saturday the Apostles were so close to the joy and glory of Easter Sunday. Yet all that they could see at that point was the suffering and death which had just passed.

In many ways, we all find ourselves in a Holy Saturday sort of existence at the moment. Often made unhappy by the fallout of Covid-19 but, crucially, moving closer to the renewal, joy and new hope of Easter Sunday. And, unlike the Apostles who had yet to witness Jesus’ resurrection, we are blessed with the knowledge of how miraculously God can heal any painful situation. I was reminded of this at the Easter Vigil when the church which we’d entered in darkness was finally lit up for Easter Sunday!”
