Visits to the St Scholastica Community at Downside

Currently living in the St Scholastica Community at Downside are the three oblates Cristobal Valdes, Nicolas Meneghello and Vicente Tagle. Due to the current situation, no young people have been able to join them for the 4 month community experience this term, but they have been delighted to welcome individuals from the Weave for visits to the community. These visits have also been a source of great encouragement for the people who have visited;

"I am really grateful for my time visiting St Scholastica at Downside recently. Sharing a weekend with them and living and praying together was a wonderful experience that I have definitely missed during lockdown. Enjoying each other's company and getting an opportunity to rest and recharge was such a blessing. The Weave prayer mornings and online lectio that have become the norm these past months have been a great source of encouragement for me, but nothing beats being with friends in person, and I thank God for the opportunity to do this." Johnny Stacey

“After a summer of praying on Discord and Zoom it was joyous and reviving to stay a week with St Scholastica community in September, to experience once more the gift of the shared daily routine centred around prayer and listening to God's word. Through being in His community, I feel I encountered Christ in a powerful way, fulfilling His promise that, 'whenever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.' (Mt 18:20)” Rebecca Blakey
